"Sarang"사랑

We purchased our bus Sarang (meaning love in Korean) in January 2020 with big hopes and dreams. We were still operating our YAGO Farm and Food business back then. Our initial plan was converting her into a mobile grocery traveling to both urban and rural food desert communities in KY with locally grown ethnic crops and locally made ethnic food products. Then the pandemic happened. We had to pause like the rest of the world. By the time we finally began to work on the bus a couple of years later, our situations had changed as well as our plans for the bus. The conversion work for the past 3 years proved to be a far bigger challenge than we had ever imagined. We also had to worry about insurance, maintenance, and storage issues. I was seriously doubting my ability to get this project completed and on the verge of quitting. 

Then I met Tosha this summer and got to know about LeVee, a local art collaborative near downtown Lexington. When I visited LeVee a couple of months ago, I felt a strong connection and asked if her inspirational place could be a new home for our bus Sarang. Tosha and I were able to think of so many cool ways the bus can be utilized, from neighborhood food markets and mindful cooking classes to art exhibits and community theater. So, we decided to form an exciting partnership! Last Sunday, Sarang moved to her new home, the backyard of LeVee. BaeNaChi has many fun community outreach plans with Sarang at Levee. Tosha and her friends will be using the bus for their wonderful art and food events. Sometimes we will collaborate on creative special community events.

Most of all, I am so happy to give our bus Sarang a new life. She may not travel all over Kentucky as we had hoped. But she will be very proud of her role as a new local hot spot bringing our community together. Tosha and all her friends at LeVee, thank you for your partnership!
